Yes Golly's words of wisdom permeate this epi. as he draws from his own experience with Jess when he's talking to Paul about family (I hope this is is the epi. he refers to Jess and not 4:11) I watched both last night, now the 2 kind of 'run together')
I thought it was quite strange that Paul would wonder where Useless was whilst he was in the middle of putting a window in, and I don't know how he would have known where the dog has gone, he might have gone home or something for all he knew. But with dramatic licence he knew straight away that Useless was in trouble by the falls.
I haven't had a chance to re-watch this, but I do remember Molly's reaction to the situation and how hard it was for her to accept -- I can totally understand.
That time in her life was quite unhappy, and knowing Hector, was one that probably wasn't really worked through. They got on with life afterwards and quite well at that, but I'm sure seeing Paul, in the flesh and blood, brought back so many unresolved issues and feelings. Worse yet, Hector wasn't there to hash them out with.
It's one thing to know that affairs happened within a marriage -- and it's another to find out children resulted because of that affair. And there is a difference in knowing in your head that the child is innocent (DON'T shoot the messenger) and knowing in your heart/body. Sometimes it's a bit slower to come around. I think that is was natural for Molly to continue to have problems with Paul even after she resolved to accept him. She is a GOOD woman, but a human, not a saint. For me, it would have been unrealistic if at the end of episode she was all hunky dory with Paul.
I think the accident was a great catalyst for Archie - sometimes it take a 'big' moment to get people to feel/think differently.
Maybe I should go back and re-watch this episode . . . ;D

Wow, this is all very good analysis Maddie, to just comment about your dislike of the FALL incident. I think the playwrights deliberately did that to resonate Gollys words of , 'If i'd lost a brother, i'd be in no mind to lose another'. The fall was to echo how Archie had gotten over Paul, and that in a way, it sort of makes up for the guilt of killing Jamie.
Definitely NOT - it is up to the person doing it to choose any episode that they like but presumeably not one that has already been done!! It's their choice, so if you have one you would like to do, please let us know soon so that we can look at it during the first week of May!!! We normally have the chooser atart the discussion on the first Monday following the week, probably 5th. or 12th.?
The episode where they discover the plane in the loch is a good one...the first epi. without Lexie (don't know the no. off hand). Has this one been done Sorry I haven't checked out to see which ones have been discussed yet
Hi Paul, it's nearly time to do May's Fav Epi and I said that I would do 6:4, (the one with the plane in the loch). I can't do screen caps, so maybe someone else could do them for me? Do they need to be on the new thread first or can I do the review first?
No, Lesley, you don't have to wait for any screencaps - they are not necessary but just a nice addition. I have been so busy with Mothers Day that I haven't done anything about it so just start when you want. I will see if I can find something suitable quickly! Anyway it should be a new thread.
