My friends tell me he is very good in it, but not as funny as everyone thought, Has anyone else seen it? How is it? x

I went to see this last night and I was massively disappointed I loved the first film, like the second but this was just a mess.
The script was all over the place and some of the dialogue was just awful. The film was way too long, badly plotted and there were many storylines that just didn't add anything to the plot, they should have been cut. And those surreal moments were just bizarre, it was like the writers couldn't decide what the film was. It's a pirate film! We want pirates! The first film was just pure fun, that's why it was successful, the writers seemed to forget that with the second and third films.
Where was the recap at the start? This film continued straight on from the last one. What if this was the first POTC film you'd seen? You'd have been puzzled all the way through! Fortunately I've got the DVD of the second film and had watched it the night before, but my friends hadn't seen it since it's cinema release last year, and they were confused. With a film that was 3 hours long it wouldn't have hurt to have put a recap at the start.
The hanging scene at the start was just unneccessary. The way they were piling the bodies up was like the in the old films of Auschwitz, I'm sure it's not coincidental. So I thought that was in bad taste. And as for the boy being hung We want pirates! We want fun! We want Johnny Depp! It was about 35 minutes before he turned up! Stupid. Keith Richards was wasted in his cameo. If you see him interviewed he's just like Captain Jack, but they made him act in this film, they should have just let him be himself!
But I liked the way Keira's legs were still gorgeous at the end. Despite everything they'd been through (and remember the second and third films go together), her legs were still perfect, tanned, scratch and bruise free and hairless! My eager eye spotted that as Orlando kissed her legs on the beach ;D So when did she find time to shave?!
And in the little scene after the credits, which was very romantic I thought, it said "ten years later" despite the fact that Elizabeth Swann didn't look a day older! Surely they could have added a few lines to her face!
As I said, disappointing. It just seemed rushed to me. The script needed refining before filming, but I read the other day that they started filming before the script had even finished! So no wonder it was such a mess. I hope there's not a fourth film. Dave
But Dave, certainly you are aware that action movie heroines do NOT have hair growing on their legs, always have immaculate make-up, and never need to visit the toilet (unless this is asked for by the plot)?
By the way, heroes never have to shave either, although their beard may grow into a stubble (but never more than that) after a while if this makes them look more sexy.
Donald's review makes me even more sure that I am doing the right thing in waiting for the dvd. As lovely as Johnny and Orlando are up on the big screen, I don't think that is enough to make me want to sit through the rest of it.
How did the movie do box office-wise after the opening weekend, anyone know?
