Epimethean, your picture of half dome in Yosemite is wonderful...Thanks! Its a beautiful place! I went on an overnight hike with the Sierra Club in the Tuolomne Meadows nearby, and it has the most wonderful long meadow with a stream running through it...mountains on all sides. I've only had one other walk as beautiful and I had to be in Switzerland, a few years ago, for that. It was a walk at the base of the Jungfrau at Grindelwald. For me a meadow must be lined with mountains...and have water features, a cow with a bell, or two, is nice.
Here is a weather site-a few more pictures are here, too. I haven't read it yet, having just found it.
Yosemite is definitely a place to visit...but in the summer I have heard its back to back tourists so you must chose your time well. You can't always stay in the park now. Maybe Spring is the best time to visit...snow can be a hazard, though. I've only been there twice so I don't know about it.
I came on to thank you for your Ardverikie area pictures on that thread. Since Kodak offered them I ordered some 4x5's and I now have one of your pictures of the Loch framed on our den wall. I thought you should know! You are a talented photographer! Thank You so much for sharing them with us!!
Yosemite looks very different in Summer(thanks for the link). And it was pretty crowded on Boxing Day too. We had just a one day trip (06.20 - 21.30!) so it was a taste really and we were so lucky with the clear weather...
We had a week in SF and did three day trips - Yosemite / Napa & Sonoma / Muir Woods, Sausalito & Bay Cruise
Also saw The Unauthorized Rolling Stones (tribute band) at a blues club 100 yards from our hotel on Christmas Eve... And had lunch at the San Francisco Hard Rock Cafe (got the T-Shirt)
