The bird looks like a red sparrow (although there's no such thing) but it looks about the same size. It must be thrilling to see green shoots popping through after all those months of snow and baron ground.
Your temps are nearly the same as ours here in NZ, expected high 19, however the overnight lows are still high around 14. We're in for alot of rain during the coming week. The cat is sleeping heaps and there's ants after her jelly-meat!
It's nice to see the budding plants and shrubs -- a definite sign better weather is on its way!! The picture of the Cardinal is fabulous -- I have a special soft-spot for them. We have a noisy pair who frequent our back yard and its fun to see if you can spot them flying through the air (the male especially) and landing on a neighbor's tree. It's really incredible how vibrant their red feathers are. Lately we've had these larger black birds with irridescent bluish-green heads coming around -- in packs (or whatever you call a group of birds :. I think they are a type of Starling and their call is absolutely horrible! I don't like when they congregate because it scares away the smaller birds, whereas none of them seem to be bothered by the squirrels.
