Yesterday it was 11th November, the day that in Ypres are many ceremonials of World War I. In the afternoon there was a ceremony with the presency of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip of the UK. What a dashing man he still is for his age ! 92 years old. He could sit down, caus they've put a chair ready for him, but he preferred to stand during the whole ceremony. Fact is that the British soldiers, and some students have taken 70 sacks with soil and sand of all the British Cemeteries which are in Flanders Fields, with them to the UK. Plan is to create a Memorial Garden next to Buckinham Palace in London. It will be ready somewhere next Summer. They told that there were also camera's of the BBC. Has anyone seen this on telly in the UK ? It was very impressive to see. From Belgium was Prince Laurent there to accompany Prince Philip.
Ypres is making itselves up now for next year 100 year 'Groote Oorlog' ( Big War ) One of the activities is that the Tour de France will start in Ypres. But of course there will be many more activities during the next four years. My cousin told lots of B&B's are started caus they expect lots of British and Canadian tourists.
